Dental Assistant
Your patients will experience joy and gratitude and will respect you for your professionalism and compassion. You will experience the personal fulfillment and pride felt after a child's first dental exam and cleaning or the heart-felt thanks of an accident victim with a beautiful new smile. You will be a respected and appreciated member of a highly professional team. The work is exacting, especially as it relates to instrument sterilization, room preparation, instrument passes to the dentist, and measuring dental materials. You will be expected to skillfully and compassionately manage each patient's anxiety over treatment pain or appearance.

Student life at SHC
A Growing Community
Our student culture plays a key role in the experience at School of Health Careers. We’ve created a safe and accessible environment where students are encouraged to discuss ideas, collaborate on projects, share their work and receive feedback with pride. We give students the foundation to reach their potential and gain confidence both academically and socially.

Now enrolling Dental Assisting classes
In May 2017 the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projected a national growth for Dental Assistants of 27.4% for the years 2014-2024.
To meet that need, School of Health Careers offers a 4 month, 4 day a week, 4.5 hours per day program that prepares each student for the state Registration examination and a great career as a Dental Assistant.
Included in the 4 months of training is 100 hours of Externship. This involves working at the chair side with the dentist practicing what you have learned in the classroom and laboratory. Each day in the dentist office enhances your clinical training and is designed to give you the skills necessary to be a successful member of a dental practice.
